Joint General Session - SND/APME/APPM
Where do print and online design converge? Where do they stray? We asked members from SND, APME, APPM and ONA to help us make presentation decisions that take into account each format's unique strengths — and weaknesses. Then we prototyped the results. Let the conversation begin.
APME Prototypes
Associated Press Managing Editors chose a print newspaper that had the daring style of a Bakersfield Californian. They wanted an online site that had the look and feel of The New York Times.
SND Prototypes
Society for News Design members split on their presentation choice: Bakersfield or the Los Angeles Times? The membership also split on Web presentation: Slate or NYT?
APPM Prototypes
The Associated Press Photo Managers overwhelming like the LAT presentation for print. Online, it was Slate, NYT and and the Lawrence Journal-World site that capture attention.
Group Prototypes
The group that convened with members from all three organizations, as well as a representative of the Online News Association, made some other choices, but still favored bold presentation in print and easy navigation on the Web.
